Lyle Durbin enlisted in the Navy on March 6, 1943 at Springfield, IL, and was given the rank of Seaman Second Class. On April 1, 1944, he was promoted to Ships Cook 3/C, and on July 1, 1945, he was promoted to Ships Cook 2/C. On August 14, 1945 he was transferred from the Harry Lee to Receiving Station, San Francisco for assignment by Commander Western Sea Frontier. |
